ST. STEPHENS UNDERPASS
In this project on my Foundation course we were given the opportunity to have our work in the public eye, and set up and organise the whole thing. We were given an underpass as our work space that was run down and covered in graffiti. We took this space and pasted it up and put our own pieces of art and design up. The reviews from the public were very mixed throughout the day, some didn't understand why we were bothering because "it will just be ripped down" or "it won't stop the graffiti" and others were pleased to see something new on their way to and from work. None of us ever thought our work would stay up for long anyway so we weren't precious over it in any way. It was only ever meant to be a temporary exhibition.
As expected a week later some had been ripped down and others had comments written over them, but it was all part of the fun and some of the comments were actually rather amusing.
